metat is designed for iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 16 or later. Card scanning and local dictation depend on the device and language. You can import cards from Photos and type your notes as alternatives.

You do not need a metat account to scan cards, recognise text or use your local card archive. Version 1.0 uses accounts configured on your device for Calendar and Reminders. A direct Google sign-in is not included in this version.

Check metat's permissions in your device settings. Camera access is needed for new captures; Contacts access is needed to save contacts and find existing matches. With limited Contacts access, metat can only find contacts you have allowed. You can also import a card from Photos and keep it in the archive.

Place the card flat against a plain background with even light. Avoid glare and blurry images. Use each archive entry for one person's card and check the result. The saved card images are there to help you correct details.

In this version, your personal encounter notes stay in the metat archive. They are not automatically attached to events, reminders or shared event suggestions. Local dictation is available only when your device can process the selected language on the device; otherwise, you can type. Dictation in the system keyboard is a separate Apple feature.

For an event, metat opens Apple's calendar editor. Choose a writable calendar configured on your device and use an existing meeting link if you have one. This can include a Google calendar configured there. New events include a reminder 15 minutes before the start by default. In Settings → Calendar reminder, choose another lead time or no advance alert. This applies to new follow-ups; previously saved events stay unchanged. A separate reminder is saved to your default reminders list.

Version 1.0 does not create Google Meet or Teams links, or send invitations through a direct provider connection. You can share an event suggestion yourself as an ICS file.

Open “My business cards”. Create a card manually or choose to scan your own card: capture one or both sides, or import a photo. metat recognises the text on your device. Review and complete the details before saving. You can create several cards for different roles; a photo or logo is optional.

Scan images are kept with your own card. They are not automatically used as a portrait or included when sharing the contact file.

Open your own card and show its QR code or choose Share. The QR code contains the contact details directly and works without a public profile website. Recipients do not need a metat account. A photo or logo is included only in the shared VCF contact file, not in the QR code.

Send the VCF file through AirDrop or another app. Private role labels, encounter notes and scan images are not included. Very detailed cards may not fit into a readable QR code; you can still share the complete contact file. How it appears to the recipient depends on their contacts app.

It is optional and off by default. Enable it in Settings and choose a time; the suggested time is 08:00. metat asks for notification permission only when you enable it. The summary covers that day’s follow-ups saved in your metat archive. Days without those follow-ups have no summary.

The app uses the plan saved in metat. It does not read your calendar for this; later changes made directly in the calendar are not reflected. Open metat regularly so it can schedule summaries for more days. Up to 60 days with follow-ups can be scheduled ahead.

The summary does not replace a calendar reminder. Turning it off removes metat’s scheduled summaries. Calendar alerts and reminders in other apps remain. Whether and how a notification appears also depends on your iOS notification and Focus settings.

Yes. In Settings, turn off optional prompts when saving, the opening animation and the morning summary individually. The calendar advance alert has its own off option. Change system permissions at any time in your iPhone or iPad settings. Reviewing a scan of your own business card remains part of the flow so you can check its details before sharing.

A direct connection to Google Calendar and Google Meet is planned for a future update. It is not part of version 1.0. A release date has not been set.

No. Deleting a metat archive entry removes its saved images and metadata from the app. Manage contacts, events and reminders already saved to other apps separately.

You can share card images, a VCF contact file and an ICS event suggestion through the share sheet. Choose recipients carefully: the selected file is passed to the app or person you choose.
